WASDALE

Hello,

I hope you have had a good 2019 so far.

2019 has been a busy one for Prima Uno with targeting new markets outside of Cumbria and working on some large tenders to enable our growth.  The target has been to grow in new sectors, and  we have been non-stop working on multi-sector tenders since January which has been very intense.

We have had new employees join us and engaged with new clients such as NNL, INS and the NDA.

The start of the Summer saw us being successful in securing a place on the Decommissioning Framework at Dounreay with our long-term clients AECOM, NIS, NSG and MW Hargreaves and forging new relationships on this framework with ARC, Westinghouse, Squibb, and Morson Projects.

We have also entered into new contracts with new clients such as NNL (National Nuclear Laboratory), International Nuclear Services (INS) and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) (under the INS contract) and we have been continuing our long-term relationships with our clients.

Autumn will see us looking for new staff in areas such as Business Development,  Office Manager, Bid Manager, Lab Technician, Proof-readers and Dashboard experts.  Please click on the link for the Office Manager position we currently have available.

Office Manager / Lead Administrator

We are preparing for big changes next year with the new IR35 regulations coming into force.  We will be holding a workshop for all of our limited company owner associates which will be open to other people potentially affected by IR35.

Anyone interested in joining our award winning team please get in touch.

Enjoy the rest of your Summer and I will hopefully see you soon.

Spring 2019 Newsletter

Spring

Now that we are through the other side of Winter season (hopefully!) and we are now into Spring, a time for revival and renewal…but we have been by no means hibernating…!  Here’s what we’ve been up to over the darker months…

Sellafield SME Forum

Cheryl attended the relaunched Sellafield SME Forum on behalf of Prima Uno in March.  The Forum has been newly revitalised to share knowledge challenges and successes for those working with Sellafield in line with their new Supply Chain Strategy.

Representatives from over 60 SME’s attended the event which was a platform to share learning as well as an opportunity to build relationships and collaborate with other SME businesses.  The most valuable outputs will be included in the Sellafield Ltd SME Action Plan.

Cheryl will represent Prima Uno at future forums as her previous working experience and knowledge means she is well placed to offer opinions from SL and SME perspectives.

Sellafield Directors Forum

Cheryl attended the annual Sellafield Directors Forum took place on 28th March at Energus.  This event gave opportunity to SME’s, like ourselves, direct access to talk and discuss opportunities with Sellafield Tier 2 suppliers so that we could understand what they procure and how we could become a supplier to them.  It was an extremely busy event with over 500 attendees and there were some good presentations too from SL and some Tier 2’s.

Awards

Here at Prima Uno we never take any award nomination for granted and we always feel honoured and humbled to be even nominated let alone shortlisted for an award.  But we believe it is testament to the hard work we put in each day in our endeavours to maintain our uniqueness in what we do and we feel we are recognised as such through these nominations.    Our latest shortlisting for Small Organisation in the Northern Power Women Awards sadly did not see us win (the honour went ConstructionQ and big congratulations to them!) but to be praised for what we do and be up against 900 other nominations in 10 award categories in a national event, we consider this as an achievement in itself!

In-Cumbria HOT 100

Just last week, we were very honoured to find that we were listed in the In-Cumbria magazine’s HOT 100 companies considered the gamechangers that are blazing a trail for West Cumbria!  We are thrilled to have such recognition.

Prima Uno Ltd Press Release – 10th January 2019

NPW-Shortlist-Award-Graphics-Small-Organisation2019_Page_1 (002)

Prima Uno are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for the Small Organisation Award as part of The Northern Power Women Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the North of England. The awards showcase role models and celebrate the many different ways women and men contribute to a thriving Northern Powerhouse.

The awards have attracted over 900 nominations across 10 award categories and nominations were shortlisted and assessed by 60 judges ranging from independent business owners to senior executives from large multi-national organisations.

Managing Director, Sarah Purdham said ‘I was honoured and flattered to be nominated by the WiN Cumbria team.  Our very own Angie Dean who is a member of WiN Cumbria team has also been nominated and shortlisted for a WiN award.  To have the Company and members of Prima Uno nominated and shortlisted is amazing for such prestigious awards.  These awards really do raise the profile of Cumbrian businesses, the WiN Cumbria division and also our wonderful Cumbrian ladies that make a difference in the industry for the Company, county and their gender. I am so proud to be Cumbrian and hopefully making a difference to our work force in inspiring others to follow and realise their dreams.  None of our success would be possible for wonderful people that work for Prima Uno.  Our values are so important here and getting shortlisted is testament to the people that make up Prima Uno.’

Sarah

The team at Prima Uno are also absolutely thrilled with the shortlisting and it is a testament to the hard work that they undertake. Jonathan Prowse, Project Controls Lead from Prima Uno Cheshire Office, says ‘I have been with Prima Uno now for over 18 months and I am immensely proud to see how the company continues to grow and make changes across several industries. For Prima Uno to be shortlisted for such an award shows that these achievements continue to be recognised.’

Rachel Starkey, Head of Prima Uno Project Controls for Cumbria said, ‘this is an amazing opportunity, not only for Prima Uno but also for myself to be a contributing factor to the nomination for this award.  To be shortlisted raises the profile of both Prima Uno and myself in the role that I perform within industry and the fact that women can make a difference.

Cheryl Hinde, Programme, Strategic and Business Development Manager for Prima Uno said, ‘although I have only been with Prima Uno a matter of months, I am extremely proud to be part of such an inspirational team. Working for Prima Uno gives me the opportunity to make a difference and I enjoy seeing and feeling us go from strength to strength.’

MP for Copeland, Trudy Harrison said ‘I am absolutely delighted that Cumbria is being recognised on the national stage at the Northern Power Women Awards. I want to send my heartfelt congratulations to the finalists, who are shining examples of what our county has to offer. Having smaller businesses like Prima Uno Ltd and powerful networks like the WiN Cumbria community is helping to ensure our region is a vital contributor to the UK economy, and I look forward to continuing my work with them to improve gender balance in industry.’

Manchester Airports Group, one of the largest employers in the North and a key driver behind the Northern Powerhouse, will be supporting the awards, which will be taking place on 18th March, following their sponsorship announcement earlier last year.
