Prima Uno, the specialist Project and Forensic Planning, Consultancy has announced 1st August as the date for the official opening of their new offices at Phoenix Court, Cleator Moor.  Cutting the ribbon on the new premises will be senior officials from Sellafield Limited who have been keen to support the growth and development of the business.

Reflecting the value of such a specialist business to Britain’s Energy Coast, the guest list includes clients from across the region including Nuvia, NNL, LLWR. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be conducted by representatives from Sellafield Limited including  Stuart Wilson – Supply Chain Ombudsman, Robert Astall – Commercial Director, Helen Fisher – Head of Socio economics and George Beveridge – Deputy Managing Director (tentative acceptance) of Sellafield Limited.

Sellafield Ltd Supply Chain Ombudsman, Stuart Wilson, said: “Prima Uno have gone from strength to strength as an SME in competing at the highest level and we wish them every success for the future.

“It’s great news that Sarah has relocated her business once again in West Cumbria, sending out a fantastic message about the vibrancy of the area and local industry.

“Sarah contacted us a short while ago and we were happy to provide some pointers, including sharing information about how to win work at Sellafield and contact details for people like the Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster — who do vital work with SMEs in West Cumbria. That advice is available to anyone who contacts our office.”

Prima Uno is less than two years old, but is already making an impact on the international stage, contracts with the Olympic Stadium, Commonwealth Games and Terminal 5 at Heathrow highlight how the company’s skills can be transferred across many sectors.
Sarah Purdham, Managing Director said “It has always been my dream to bring my career and family back to West Cumbria. Our diverse and successful portfolio has been well received and I have been surprised at the speed with which our skills and services have been appointed. We’re delighted to be working in West Cumbria and as far afield as Aberdeen. It is good for our local economy and a great feeling to know we are exporting skills out of county.

We’ve also just announced the launch of a Centre for Excellence in our specialist field and we’re looking forward to explaining more about that on the day. It’s a very exciting time for West Cumbria.”

Prima Uno has been shortlisted for two awards in the Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) Business Awards 2014.

“Prima Uno Centre of Excellence”

Press Release

Date: 4th July 2014

Prima Uno Planning and Programming to open a Centre of Excellence

Prima Uno, the specialist Project and Forensic Planning, Consultancy, has announced they arelaunching a ‘Centre of Excellence’  for Project Planning, Project Controls and Forensic Planning at their new Cleator Moor offices in September.

Young West Cumbrian’s will enrol on an apprenticeship which is based on Prima Uno’s own syllabus. It will be covering sectors including nuclear, construction, water, wind energy, rail, transport, oil and gas.

(Already three apprentices are in the pipeline for the start of the programme.)The Prima Uno Apprentices will have the opportunity to gain NVQ, APM and Degree Level Qualifications in Project Controls, Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. They will also have the opportunity for wider training, with additional in-house courses covering associated areas.

Since Prima Uno was established in 2012, its main aim has been to grow the business into a nationally respected specialist consultancy.  Alongside this ambition Managing Director Sarah Purdham also wanted to set up a ‘Centre of Excellence’, enabling more people in West Cumbria to become nationally respected Project Control specialists.

Sarah is looking to develop highly trained consultantswith exceptional skills and knowledge so they can work as planning engineers, project controls specialists and forensic planners, looking at programme governance, programme assurance integrated and strategic programme experts. It is a very specialised field, one with a national skills shortage.

Prima Uno consultants provide these skills across the UK and also have thetraining capabilities to pass this knowledge on to others.

Sarah Purdham has been cultivating, gathering and creating training manuals, industry sector norms for a number of years.  She has various training manuals covering different sectors including nuclear, rail, wind energy, civil, and water industries. With help, she has also collated notes and support covering jargon, glossaries, lead times and project lifecycles – her consultants have a wide range of industry knowledge at their fingers tips.

Sarah said “There is a huge shortage of local and national planning and project controls skills.  With new major nuclear projects at Sellafield, National Grid and a new nuclear new build plans on the horizon; this lack of industry expertise is already a huge risk.  Prima Uno is creating the platform for home grown talent from Cumbria, giving West Cumbrian school leavers, students and graduates a chance to get a wonderful qualification in project controls with lifelong career potential.”

Sarah added “We recognise that something needs to be done and quickly. While we are on the crest of a wave, it makes sense to develop the skills now, before it is too late and these contracts are underway. We’re delighted to be launching a Centre of Excellence in West Cumbria – giving the local community and the local economy chance to home grow new talent, and creating the much needed specialist project planning and project controls expertise”

As a memberof Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster, Prima Uno will be available to discuss the growth and opportunities at Prima Uno at the August ‘Cluster’ meeting. Blog of the Week 11th June 2014

Yet another busy week at Prima Uno.  Interviews galore for new apprentices and potential new employees. What comes with growth also comes change.  We are looking for new larger offices in the West Cumbrian area.  We viewed two offices on different sites but were very impressed with The Phoenix Court offices at Cleator Moor.  I recall I did my very first computer course at Phoenix Court.  We are hoping to relocate by the end of June beginning of July. Tomorrow Thursday 12th June we are attending the Sellafield Supply Chain Forum at Energus which is another excellent event put on for local businesses in the area to attend. Planning another trip to Aberdeen at the end of June with clients and to attend the North Sea Decom lunch & learn. Sarah Purdham Managing Director

Blog of the Week Friday 6th June 2014

The West Cumbrian office has been fairly quiet this week as people have been on leave, on assignments or meeting clients.

We have been shortlisting candidates for Apprentice roles which we have advertised recently.  All candidates have applied via The Lakes College and have been of an extremely high standard.

We submitted our entry for Britain’s Energy Coast 2014 Business Awards last week which was exciting for the business.
