Isle of Grain Liquefied Natural Gas

Overview
Prima Uno were the planning consultants for reviewing and creating tender programmes, assisting education in implementing the NEC 3 contract.
CB&I John Brown awarded Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering (BBCEL) the civil works package for the Grain Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Expansion Project.
Grain LNG Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Grid Transco plc and is currently constructing a LNG importation and regasification terminal at the Isle of Grain in Kent. Grain LNG Limited will own and operate the terminal. CB&I John Brown is the EPC contractor for the project.
The projects scope covers the construction of three concrete LNG tanks measuring 193,000m3 each. This will create a total storage capacity of 770,000m3 of LNG at the Grain site. The new tanks will be the largest of their kind in the world.
The work also involved associated process civils foundations, earthworks, roadworks, concrete building foundations, concrete tanks, concrete trenches and pits, culverts, drainage, paving and underground utility systems.
